The International Fire Code asserts that NFPA signage must be installed within the stairwell of your facility. These NFPA safety signs identify a stairwell, indicate where the exit level is located, and state whether or not there is roof access. This not only directs traffic, but also gives vital information during an emergency. NFPA signage includes a stairway ID sign, a tactile level ID sign, and a tactile exit sign. All facilities with stairwells are required to have NFPA signage, but if your building has more than three floors, your stairway safety signs must be photoluminescent. There are also other rules regarding facilities in Houston, North Carolina, and Washington, D.C..
